SANDSCORPIONS 20 Year Anniversary Party.
Febuary 19th
Yep it will soon be here and just like in the past a great time for all. We will have 8 lanes reserved for bowling, have full access to the game room for the kids, and the lounge/casino for the adults. We will be sharing dinner, a taco feed. We will be setting up TV screens all over the place and running any videos we have of our past events so if you have some footage let me know as we want to see them. Bring your pictures as we will also have our scrap books available for every one to check out.
Sandscorpion's purchased a new picture printer/scanner and will have it here at this event. If you have any pictures on cd bring them as we will have the ability to print anything you want at a minimal fee, cost of materials you know. Probably a buck a picture. Great way to get a picture of yourself doing something great or maybe stupid that one of our members has and you don't.
The event will start at 4PM on Saturday Febuary 19th and last till we get run out. Remember this is a family event so bring the kids, you can also bring a friend or two if you like. The more the merrier.

Beverly Sand Dunes spring clean up.
March 5th.
Mike Williams (DNR) and Kyle Cox (ORV) have asked for our help.Our group will be traveling to Beverly Sand Dunes to pick up the trash that has accumulated over the winter and have a chili feed. We will meet at Rich Archers house at 223 Sharon Ave E in Moses Lake for the trip to Beverly leaving at 8am or you can meet up with us at the Beverly Dunes at 9am. After all the work has beed done we will hang around to play on the dunes and explore the area. It's lots of fun with open dunes and trails. Bring those Quads, 4X4's and dune toys. We are also planning on setting up a small Pit bike course for all you big and little kids.So get all your friends and family together and lets clean her up showing how we taking pride in our ORV area.

Overnight family camp out & fun runs.
March 19th
One of our members Delbert Surface is moving to Tri Cities and would like to start a second chapter of the Sand Scorpions. We think this a great opertunity to expand our group allowing both both groups to corodinate events and promote our dune areas. We have several members living in the Tri Cities area and are inviting you to come on down and bring friends for a great family event. We will meet at the Juniper forest dunes at 10am (exact location to be determined) to set up camp. We will be going on a X country fun run rerturning for a BBQ at about 6pm. After that we have no plans other than getting to know each other and the dunes. Will travel back to Moses Lake at 12 noon sunday. Looking forward to seeing you all there.
Moses Lake Shoreline Clean Up.
March 26th
Where? Moses Lake Sand Dunes. Time? 8am leave for our assignment out at the Sand Dunes South End Beach Area. We will be cleaning the 5 mile stretch of beach .from the ORV area to West Lake I-90 entrance. It teaches our kids the value of protecting our environment. We will be picking up lots of tires, trash, glass and all sorts of junk. We will be taking out the race trailer and after the clean up setting it up for some drag racing, and a BBQ. Bring what ever meat you want cooked and a side salad or desert it will be a blast so bring out the family.
Kids Easter Egg hunt and BBQ and sand drags.
April 23rd
Kids Easter Egg hunt and BBQ. Lots of prizes, Easter eggs, candy, and cash eggs. Where the most northern corner of the sand dunes ORV area next to the red zone fence. Follow the Sand Scorpions event signs on the main road. Time 12 noon. Bring your kids and whatever meat you want to eat. We will have the BBQ all fired up ready to cook your meal. We will have all the fixens for burgers, hot dogs, steaks, or chops. If you can bring a salad, salsa, chips, or desert. After the egg hunt and BBQ we go over to competition hill for some drag racing. South pole Tail Gate Party.
May 14th
Where at the Moses Lake Sand dunes South Pole of course. Where the H is that. The the most south/east corner of the dunes GPS coordinates ( ). If you dont know where that is meet the group at the 1st parking lot (potato hill rd) at 11:30 am and follow us out. We will be having a pick nick and some Australian Persuit obstical course races for the bikes, quads, and 4x4s. Event starts at 12:00 noon. Be there its going to be loads of fun. Diane Jackson Memorial weekend camp out and drag races.
May 27th to 30th.
This is a great family event with loads of things to do. We set up camp at Pamps gravel pit with our own porta potties and clean camp areas. We are BBQing a pig this year on Saturday at 6pm so bring some sort of a side dish and we will have two live bands playing rock and roll later in the evening. We will be setting up our race trailer for sand drags out in the dunes on Saturday and Sunday at 12 noon. Every evening we play music over the PA system or enjoy the kids and the Drum circle music. Off road fun runs will be going on all weekend and if that’s not enough the City of Moses Lake is having their spring fair with carnival games and rides, a Saturday night parade, and a Car Show-n-Shine. Douglas Creek Fun Run.
June 11th.
The Scorpions will be traveling to the Palasades to go on a 4X4 fun run up the Douglas Creek trail. Its lots of fun with some tough trail runs through the desert sage brush, rocks, and mud. It ends at a couple of fresh water pools where we get to go swimming and maybe catch some craw dads. Dont forget to bring plenty of fluids and enough food to last all day.

Fathers Day Liberty fun run & camp out.
June 18th & 19th.
For several years now a bunch of Sand Scorpions have gone to Liberty to camp out and run the mountain trails. So we decided to add it to our events for 2010. There are lots of trails to be explored and it is a ton of fun so load up the camping gear and the kids and join in for the rock climbing, and exploring the mountain trails.

Side by side mud bog races. No classes no rules just line up and have fun. Double elimination fun runs followed by thrashing the pit till we break. 12:00pm - 6:00pm
Sand Scorpions Fire Works Stand.
June 28th to July4th
Where? Grant Co Fair Grounds blue parking lot. Not legal to sell or set off in Moses Lake in 2007 but we can sell them and set them off in the county. The fairgrounds is in the county and we are the only stand in Moses Lake last year there were 11 stands. In 2009 we sold $101.000 this year we should sell over $120.000. Please contact our city Mayor or council members to voice your opinion 509-766-9266. This is the one event that finances our group all year long. This year we split $11.000 between us and the AARP we should be able to up this amount this year. so don’t be shy sign up early. Its great fun selling something that everyone enjoys. Support our group and bring down the family and friends to purchase your fireworks. We have aerials and lots of cool displays. With kits from $20 to $600. Opening Night of the Mud Flats.
June. 30th
Saturday Night & a Full Moon, all of us crazies will be out. Where? Moses Lake Sand Dunes at Competition Hill. Time? 12 Midnight. This is our annual mud flats opening fun run. We all get together at the top of competition for a run through the flats. This run has been known to last till the sun comes up and always includes lots of mud and deep water crossings dress warm and bring plenty of supplies it’s a great time.. www.sandscorpion.net

The racing will start as soon as we are able to get everything set up and running, so the more people who show up to help the sooner we will be racing. We had a great time last year as the events got larger each night. It will be a great time for all those armatures to get used to the lights and their machines, and a perfect opportunity for those local pros to test and tune theirs. Cross Country Fun Run.
August 14th.
Where Moses Lake Sand Dunes at the south end of Moses Lake. We moved this event to Saturday hoping to attract more racers. This is our most aggressive event we have attempted so far and the last two year's was great fun. This event is open to all off roaders from Bikes. Quads, 4X4s, 2X4s, side by sides and Sand Rails. This event will encompass the whole dunes. The Start / Finish line will be on top Competition Hill down by the south end of Moses Lake and the course will follow the outer edge of the ORV area. One lap will be about 17miles long through sand, dirt, mud, and water crossings. There will be 7 check points around the course marked with an 8ft helium balloon one at each check point and each a different color. Each group will be lined up and we will have a dead engine start. When the starter gun goes off you will have to start your vehicle and race cross country to each check point. The persons who complete the course in the proper order the fastest wins. We will be starting the fastest vehicles 1st and spacing the groups about 30 min apart to help prevent accidents. Bikes 1st, Quads 2nd, Sand Rails 3rd, 2X4 and 4X4s last. The 1st group will start at 12:00 noon. This is one event you won’t want to miss. Labor Day Race Camp 2011.
September 2nd to Sept 5th
This event is especially fun for the whole family as we all get together for a truly off road camp out. We all get together and travel out to what we call Point No Point just about as far out in the mud flats as you can get. We set our camp on one of the largest sand beaches anywhere about a 7 mile cross country trek from the main road. We set up our race trailer and play music each evening. On Saturday at 12 noon we do mud drags across mother natures own slime pits. On Sunday at 10am we have Australian Pursuit races around Indy a set of ponds that has a trail around them. We place all the racers evenly spaced apart around the course. The starter stands in the center of the course and starts the race. The object is to catch the person ahead of you and if you do he is out. The race who is the farthest along in a certain amount of laps is the winner. We have classes for Bikes, Quads, and Rails, a 4X4s2X4s. Saturday and Sunday afternoon at about 6pm we set up the drag lights and have sand drags on the beach. Entry fees Drags $1.00 donation per run and Australian Pursuit $2.00 donation per race. 16 and under ½ off. This year weare planning to have a prime rib sandwich dinner so be sure to bring some type of side dish to share with everyone. Tina Quinlivan Memorial Team Mud Bog Races.
September 17th
Where. Moses Lake Sand Dunes, North West end of the mud flats. Follow the Sand Scorpions event signs out the gravel road starting at the west entrance to the dunes. Westlake side entrance to red zone. Out to the mud flats where we have located several different mud holes. We divide the vehicles with winches from the ones without. The vehicles with the winches become the team leaders and draw their team members from a hat with all the other entries in it. Each team has 3 members and each team lines up at a different mud hole. All of the mud holes are joined together with a trail forming a race course. The object is to get your team through your mud hole, race down the trail to the next mud hole. The team that completes the whole course 1st wins. The Mud holes are wide enough to allow for passing if the team ahead of you is stuck in the pit. Normally you will have 5 or 6 pits to complete. Last year event was very tough. Entry fee $2.00 donation per member. After the mud bog races we will move over to the mud flats area for some Australian Persuit racing. Last Chance mud flats fun run.
September 30th
It will be 8 months before we will be allowed back to the flats and usualy by this time the water has all ready begun to rise, so dress warm and expect a wet and wild evening of fun. At 8pm on the 30th we will all meet at the top of Competition Hill and will be going on the last run in the flats ending at midnight with a fireworks display. Yellow zone mud flats clean up.
October 8th
Yellow zone mud flats clean up. The Grant County Sheriffs Dept and the Dept Of Wildlife give us special permission to go back out into the yellow zone for a last chance clean up. As you all know the yellow zone is all ready closed to us for the season but our group is allowed this time to go back out and clean up the area. We start at 10am and go till 2pm so the hunters can still get in there morning and evening hunts. This is a great way to do the right thing for the environment and also lets go for 1 more mud flat run. Each year we haul out several truck loads of trash. . www.sandscorpion.net
Discount Fireworks appreation party.

Every year Jack and Mary decorate there warehouse in Tonasket and invite all the volunteers who help with the fireworks stands they have all over the state. Jack has about 45 stands and they are manned by many different groups. We all have a great time as the Hughes treat us to dinner, beverages, games, fireworks,a live band and dancing.
The evening starts out with dinner with steak and all the fixings, pizza, beverages even a open bar, and deserts. They have games for the kids from basket ball, air hockey, darts, ping pong, and a pool table. After dinner he treats us all to a fireworks display of the new products we will have to sell next year. (YOU MUST HAVE INVITATION TO ATTEND) So be sure to work the stand.

Cross Country Poker run
November 15th.
We will meet at the Juniper Forest Dunes at 10 am for a poker run out across the dunes. Poker hands will cost $1.oo each up to 5 hands. The money will go into the kitty to be split by the winners with the best hands.
along the trail we will stop at several locations where you will be able to draw a card to compleat your hand. At the final destionation (camp) we will play poker to see who will win the pot. So pack up the kids as everyone can play. This event is for all types of off road vehicles.
Charlie Brown Christmas Tree and sledding fun run.
December 10th.
Charlie Brown Christmas Tree and sledding fun run. We all get together and travel to Eagle Creek several miles North of Leavenworth Wa. Everyone brings a can of chili for the pot and we deep fry a turkey for a group meal. We travel up the mountain as far as we can get in the snow and set up camp. We get a big camp fire going and the kids get to go sledding and we search the hillsides for our $5.00 Charlie Brown Christmas tree. We all meet at Airway Deli and fuel at 8am and caravan to Eagle Creek. We are on our way back by 4PM. New Years Day Christmas tree Bon fire,
January 1st 2012.
Chili feed, fun runs and sand drags. We all get together at the 1st parking lot at the West entrance to the dunes for some fun and food. This event starts at noon and lasts as long as we do. Every one comes out and we set up the race trailer, serve food and play some music on our pa system. Depending on the weather we will go sledding, go for a run out across the dunes or do some sand drags.
